Artists can’t afford the high rent of studios and are forced out of the city center. This is what happened to Wayfarer, but now they are in the epicenter of Art, in Bushwick.
In an expensive city like New York it is hard for an artist to find affordable studios. The Wayfarers Art Center has the solution for that. They moved from Williamsburg to Bushwick because it became to expensive. So they started with a different concept: In the back of the space they offer 12 private studios to young artists, who are about to launch their carriers. In the front they have a gallery component where the artists do a show at the end of their two-year-stay.
Currently it is the exhibition of Rachel Hays in which she shows the change of a woman when she gets married. Her show „So Be It“ lasts until the end of June.
Freunde, Food, Fotografieren, Filme, Fussball und Fliegen – diese Begriffe fassen mich gut zusammen. Im Emmental aufgewachsen wohne ich nun mein halbes Leben im wunderbaren Bern. Bei der Berner Zeitung erzähle ich Geschichten in Wort, Foto, Ton und Video, am liebsten über Kulinarik, Köche und Käuze. In meiner Freizeit jogge, lese, rave und reise ich gern und oft. Im Sommer hüpfe ich jeden Tag in die Aare, im Winter nur nach der Sauna. Langeweile auf der Gabel ist mein Horror, deshalb koche ich nie zwei Mal das Gleiche.
Über meinen Blog: Das berndeutsche Wort «Hooggisbooggis» bedeutet Durcheinander. Ich habe es nach stundenlangem Stöbern im Berndeutsch Wörterbuch entdeckt und fand es passend.
